The Apostle peter was a fisherman, poor and unlearned, when called to follow Jesus. He was candid, eager and loving. The point here is that he was uneducated. In many ways he was childlike. Even today some of the most profound of followers of Christ are not heavily educated. In fact He rejoiced that many of His followers were childlike. (Matthew 18:3, Luke 10:21, Mark 10:14) He called us to be childlike that we may enter the kingdom of heaven. Children have an open mind, not yet blinded by this world, with eyes that more easily see and ears that more easily hear the word of the Spirit of God. The truth of what they see is often reflected in what they do and say. In this way we are to be as little children. This is not to say we should not be mindful of what the bible teaches us. We should consult the bible for the truth in what we do and say and be mindful that the example of Christ is how we must conduct ourselves toward others. Do not be fooled by the words of those who would twist the truth to suit their own purposes but prove the worth of their words with the word of God.
For the next Few weeks I will be sharing precious moments images from Sarah Kay. My mother adored precious moment figurines. Jill also loves the stamped images. I kind of like this one since it is a bit like having Christ in your life. You don't deserve what gifts you are given but it is nice to know you matter enough that you are given them anyway.

ReplyDeleteAnd the only way we know how to act with Christlike-ness is to read the Word and apply it in our lives. Wise words Jim
