The Past

I am quoting some of the poetry, prose and thoughts from my journal from past years. They are all copyrighted and have been published either in these posts or elsewhere. I will post more next week.

Eyes

                    Eyes! Speaking in silent ways

                    Of life lived and lost,

Being born anew and dying again

In a place of private wars.

                    Eyes! Reflections of the soul

Come alive as in a dream,

Piercing the quiet of the night

                    To awaken silence once again.

                    Eyes! Piercing the thoughts

                    Tucked away in secret places,

                    Untouched for many long years

But seen in a careless stare.

                    Eyes! Shimmering windows

                    Glowing with twinkling lights,

                    Raging red with fire

Or wishful as loves last tear.

                    Eyes! Spilling over with life,

                    Telling all they ever knew

                    Of living, loving and losing

                    Along this short bumpy road.

                    Eyes! Loving, searching, caring

For all they grasp or touch,

Wrapping close a heart of warmth,

                    A soul of deepest caring.

                    Eyes! Filled with knowing wisdom

Gathered in the cobwebs of time,

                    Projected on gentle living screens

                    Of blue, green or brown.

                    Eyes! Those radiant mirrors,

Reflect the beauty of life within

                    An earthbound vessel of God,

                    Filled to overflowing with love.

                    Eyes! Opened to see, speak

                    Of eternal life from within,

                    Given to spread the joy

My Lord has given to me.

Onward

I travel a road of dreams,

                     Laced with thistle and thorn,

To find a peace filled clearing

                     Golden sunshine can adorn.

                     Onward, ever onward it seems,

                     Finding new scars each turn,

As old ones heal and disappear

Along this path of no return.

It seems such a hopeless way

In a life I did not request,

Trying to fill a mold not mine

Though I've done my very best.

                     The impossible is not impossible

With my Lord's hand in mine,

                     Despite my reluctant nature,

                     In the living love divine.

CRUCIFIED

"Old man! From whence do you come?"

       "I come from 70 times 7000 yesterdays

          of happiness and sorrow.?"

"Old man! Where are you going?"

"I go to the memories of tomorrows forever

where death has died and life is born."

"Old man! How are you called?"

"I am peace in turmoil, hope in the

hopeless and love in the lost."

"Old man! What do you want?"

"I want to go blind and see, deaf and

hear, mute and speak, die and be born,

cry to laugh, but most of all to find

the love lost in days past."

"Old man! Have you found what you search

      for?"

"I have found a beam and a cross beam,

three nails, a hammer, a crown of thorns

and a lance that await me. When I meet

them my love will be there."

"Old man! When will this happen?"

"In the measure of a breath already

forgotten as a memory that has not yet

      happened."

And then the old man was gone.

For The People

If the money spent on political campaigns were instead used to fight hunger, poverty and other dire needs this would be a wonderful world to live in. The same is true for the budget for war machines and other things that are not directly benefiting mankind. Political machines are not for the benefit of the voting public in most cases but for the politicians. There are some benefits to government but few that are solely for the people. Most often the statement, "those that cry the loudest are the ones that benefit" is true when it comes to politicians. The other truism is that the lobbyist with the most money is the one that will be heard. We need to stop the in-fighting between the far left and far right before our country is destroyed. Special interests and big government are not the answer either. Government control over everything is an opening for total loss of our rights and freedom. I don't often get political in my posts but the present landscape leaves more than a little to be desired. There are very few candidates available for election that are trustworthy enough to be put into office. It does not speak well for the political landscape when you have to choose the lesser of two evils for office. With that said, I am done with this post for this week.
This week is another of the Moontear images.

Chosen

(John 15:16) "You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name."(The New Jerusalem Bible (New York: Doubleday, 1985)

By what name do you call yourself? If it is Christian then understand that this is a true fact. In whatever means you are capable you will follow Christ our Lord and bring our father to those around you. At the very least your life should be an example of christian faith. I write this blog in faith because of this calling. You may be called in another way to show the reality of Christ in your life. I can assure you that even doing all you can to be an example of Christ in how you conduct yourself in the simplest things that it will be noticed. I am not trained as a preacher, minister or teacher of the word but I believe in our savior and want others to know Him as I know Him. He is the mirror of His , and our, Father in heaven. He is our saving grace through our father in heaven. He called us. He chose us to be brothers and sisters of His. He is present eternally to those who answer the calling. The way in which we live is a light unto the place we live as well as to the world. That light started with the apostles and grew until the world took note. The world is still taking note. Be a true Christian in how you live and conduct yourself. The world needs Christian love. Answer the call.

This week another Moontear image. This is one of DW's favorite images. I like the eyes on this one and the blouse/vest. I gave the eyes a light eye shadow for some accent.

Age

The above quote is important in many ways. As we age it becomes very relevant in life. I found it interesting that change is a thing to be feared instead of embraced mainly due to the speed at which it is progressing. It would seem that the technologies being developed are advancing without regard to the consequences being considered. The results of the atomic weapons used in war are a good example. True atomic power has a myriad of peaceful uses but is also destructive on a scale that is mind boggling. Scientists are on the verge of developing atomic fusion reactors that make our current power plants look like toys. AI (artificial intelligence) is being developed at a breakneck speed. That is truly scary. Where is all of this going? There is nothing I can do about any of these things. Back in Jesus' day it was mostly the power and cruelty of the Romans, the cold power and greed of the Jewish Sanhedrin, disease, poverty and the condition of the human spirit. The time may have changed but the conditions haven't. Only the players have. Fear and age would seem to magnify one another. Why are you so afraid? (Mark 4:40) Do not fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. (Proverbs 3:25,26) God gave us a spirit of power, love and self discipline not a spirit of fear. (2 Timothy 1:7) We are not to fear those who can kill the body but not the soul. (Matthew 10:28) We are given a promise of sonship not a spirit of slavery to fear. (Romans 8:15) We are given a spirit of peace if we but accept it. (John 14:27) We cannot control where this world is headed. We can control where we are headed and where our spirits are destined to be.
