How true! How many times have we made statements that we wish we had not made? Have you suffered this recently? Thought spoken without the benefit of thought is trouble. Scripture says the tongue is untamable. (Ps 5:9, PS 10:7, Ps 50:19, Ps 52:4, Prov 26:28, James 1:26, James 3:6, 1 Peter 3:10) Seems like along list doesn't it? You would be surprised how many references there are in scripture. There are many that are positive but many more that are negative about the tongue. Most of our troubles are self inflicted through our voice. (Matt 15:11-18, Luke 6:45, Romans 10:10) The Lord said that it is not what we put in our mouths that corrupts but what comes out of our mouths.
