Religious
(Psalm 118:24) This is the day the Lord has made. I shall rejoice and be glad in it. Today is the day we get our second Covid shot. It is not a given that this will end the need for yearly booster shots for this type of virus but it does give us some protection. We will still wear our masks and follow the guidelines to protect those around us and us. Praise the Lord for this and every day.
There are many things that have been chosen for a subject when writing for my posts. Some are repeats with different titles and some are new. Religious is a word that is used loosely by many. It covers all manner of beliefs both good and evil. If the beliefs of an individual are unknown it may or may not fit but when describing specific beliefs it is not proper. Just because someone goes to church every Sunday it does not mean they are religious. Just because someone rarely goes to church does not mean they are atheist. Being devout is a matter of how you practice your devotion and whether it is toward material, inanimate or other objects of devotion. Religion or Religious are not words I like using. I was asked while at work one day if, since I was a Christian, I could explain what Christianity is. That was a high compliment to me but also a rather difficult question to answer. When I asked why I was seen as a Christian, I was told that the way I treat everyone was what a Christian would do. I do not know what belief system this person practiced but they were searching for something more. We had a rather nice conversation and I tried to explain Christianity was a way of life that is based on other than self. It is a deeply personal belief. It was obvious that they had looked at and researched many other "religions" but were not happy with what they found. How I treated others was something that impressed him. Being a Christian is obviously different than just being religious. Being as Christ is more than being devout. It is being as Christ was, aware of and sensitive to others. Caring about them and paying attention to their needs no matter what the situation you or they are in. It involves the heart and soul. That is not something that is easily explained without taking taking time to do so. In fact, I am not sure that can be put into words in a way that is adequate for an explanation. The best explanation of being a Christian is to follow Christ and be as Christ like as possible.
Today I am sharing an image that appeared as a card on the Ribbon challenged blog. I colored it several years ago but never created a card with it. I don't remember if this particular image was ever posted on my blog. It is a gorgeous stamp and a wonderful image to color.
Her name is Lizzie. I guess I need to do another rendition of her.

Broken
Follow by email will be going away in July of this year. The widget is no longer offered in Google. I am looking at and testing replacements.
That miracle is Christ. The spirit of the haughty and proud must be brought to a place of humility (broken) for the Lord to be able to use them. (Psalms 116:6, Isaiah 2:17) Our father in heaven delights in those that reverence Him and love Him. Being broken does not mean we are destroyed but brought into humility. This is where me, my and mine become you, they, him and her. It is where others become the focus not us. (Luke 15:11-32) "Once I was Lost and now I am found." Being counted among the least is greater than being found among the greatest. (Matthew 11:11, Luke 9:48) Why would I say this? To a believer the words of Christ are what we should be paying attention to. The lesson of the rich man (Luke 18:20-23, Mark 10:19-22, Matthew 10:19-22) serves as a reminder that the riches of this life are not the greatest of riches. In fact they are a detriment to being able to enter through the gates of heaven. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into heaven. (Mark 10:25, Luke 18:25) Those who renounce everything in this life are those Christ seeks to follow Him. NOTHING of this life is more important than following Christ. Everything else is secondary. Not even self is important. That is also why being brought low is what Christ was looking looking for in His followers. It is interesting that He gathered from the lowest of the populace around Him for the most part for His followers. Most of the twelve were not learned or highly educated but fishermen and those who toiled for a living. Even they would be humbled before they began their ministry. (Acts 9) Paul was the greatest of these. It should be considered an honor to be humbled before the Lord. For it is a sign that He has chosen us to be a follower of His.
Today I am sharing a image that MBH gave me to color so she could make a card. It was a fun image that reminded her of the card making sessions she and her lady friends used to have.
The Copic Colors are:

2 Corinthians 4:8-18
Covid 19! Gun violence! Scams! Riots! The list goes on and on for all that is wrong in this world. The biggest thing that is happening right now is the attempt to remove the moral fiber from the center of the Christian world. With it comes the desensitizing of the spirit within. Corrie Ten Boom lived through such a time with WW2. It nearly caused the collapse of the entire world into a system of death and destruction not known or seen before. Through all of this the outlook seemed hopeless. Listening to the news gives little to lift the spirit up. What most miss is that we have a God that has never abandoned us or turned away from us no matter the situation. Though we feel abandoned, we are not. Though we are lonely we are comforted, held close and loved. (Luke 16:19-31) Being brought low is never a time to feel sorry for ones self. The accolades and attentions of others is nothing compared to the Love of our God. The fleeting feel good of an emotion is just that, fleeting. (Psalm 23) This is how it is when we walk with Jesus. It should not be just when we are crushed and brought low but at all times. Not only songs of praise but a heart filled with thanks for what we have and where we are. If you are in that place even a blade of green grass will be a joy to your heart. A lily of the field will be a symphony in your heart no matter what your situation.
Today we are going to visit one of the first stamps I colored. It is called "The Angel of Light" from Stamps Happen. No Copic colors list was done back then but the coloring was a total challenge. There were no time stamps on the saved image either.
I think you can see why it was such a challenge. Loads of detail. This is about the size the stamped image was. It is one of my favorite images.
That will do it for this week. Please take care and remember to"Love The Details." God Bless and Keep you.

Holy
I pray you had a very happy Easter. The message this week is tied to this holiday.
What makes a place holy? First of all, a holy place is a structure or natural place made of the elements of the universe. What makes it holy is if God inhabits or has inhabited that space. It then becomes a place of worship, adoration, song and reverence. (Exodus 3:2-6) How do we as sinners enter a holy place? In the past it was expected that you remove your footwear before standing on sacred ground. Today that is not a requirement in most cases. It used to be that the holiest of holy places in a church or sanctuary could only be entered by a priest or someone who was sanctified. This is no longer strictly practiced in most cases.(Hebrews 9:3-7) What is it to be holy? (1 Peter 1:15-16) Since we are called, we are to mimic Jesus and be holy. Is it even possible to be holy? There are many Saints that were considered holy. To be holy is to be as obedient children. The Saints were fervent in their obedience in their following of the Lord. Were they perfect? They were not perfect since they were all human. Only God is perfect. Being holy is not something to be defined by man since man is not perfect. Being holy means to be as God is. Only Christ was even close to being that. (Matthew 3:11) Being baptized with the Holy Spirit prepares us for the holy walk with Christ. The Holy Spirit is the guide within to help us become holy. On our own that would not be possible. There are ample places in the New Testament that tell of the life that makes us holy.
This week I would like to share an image from my collection of a Christmas dove from Serendipity. I don't know if anyone has tried to deal with something that needed to be done in white with other than colored pencils or water colors but it is a challenge to say the least. Usually the image lines are obliterated or greatly diminished in the process.
I managed to solve the problem with a Craftsmart white pen.Copic colors used are:
Leaf - R9, R24, Yr23, G24
Beak & Feet - YR12
Berries - Y13
Branch - E74
That does it for this week. I pray everyone stay safe and healthy. God Bless and remember to always "Love The Details."
