I pray you had a very happy Easter. The message this week is tied to this holiday.
What makes a place holy? First of all, a holy place is a structure or natural place made of the elements of the universe. What makes it holy is if God inhabits or has inhabited that space. It then becomes a place of worship, adoration, song and reverence. (Exodus 3:2-6) How do we as sinners enter a holy place? In the past it was expected that you remove your footwear before standing on sacred ground. Today that is not a requirement in most cases. It used to be that the holiest of holy places in a church or sanctuary could only be entered by a priest or someone who was sanctified. This is no longer strictly practiced in most cases.(Hebrews 9:3-7) What is it to be holy? (1 Peter 1:15-16) Since we are called, we are to mimic Jesus and be holy. Is it even possible to be holy? There are many Saints that were considered holy. To be holy is to be as obedient children. The Saints were fervent in their obedience in their following of the Lord. Were they perfect? They were not perfect since they were all human. Only God is perfect. Being holy is not something to be defined by man since man is not perfect. Being holy means to be as God is. Only Christ was even close to being that. (Matthew 3:11) Being baptized with the Holy Spirit prepares us for the holy walk with Christ. The Holy Spirit is the guide within to help us become holy. On our own that would not be possible. There are ample places in the New Testament that tell of the life that makes us holy.
This week I would like to share an image from my collection of a Christmas dove from Serendipity. I don't know if anyone has tried to deal with something that needed to be done in white with other than colored pencils or water colors but it is a challenge to say the least. Usually the image lines are obliterated or greatly diminished in the process.
I managed to solve the problem with a Craftsmart white pen.Copic colors used are:
Leaf - R9, R24, Yr23, G24
Beak & Feet - YR12
Berries - Y13
Branch - E74
That does it for this week. I pray everyone stay safe and healthy. God Bless and remember to always "Love The Details."
Oh yes, without the Holy Spirit we would be always struggling - God's grace is so great that we now have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, guiding and strengthening us to walk well with God the Father!
ReplyDeleteLoving your dove, that is beautifully coloured
Stay safe
Blessings

ReplyDeleteA lesson in white Never a success for me This is fabulous ...........Lis
ReplyDeleteEven with the Holy Spirit we humans can still struggle and backslide, but without it we don't have a chance. Great post Jim. That dove is gorgeous! I don't know how you manage to color it the way you did, but you did an exceptional job on it. It is definitely a beautiful image and you made it gorgeous with your coloring. Hugs and blessings, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, my friend. I've found that a white Posca paint pen really helps when needing something to be pure white, particularly when time is short xoxo
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading this thoughtful post. It's a lot to think about, especially with the conditions in our country today. This is a wonderful image, and your coloring is perfection. The shading you managed on the white surfaces looks so realistic...I image a bit difficult too. Great job on the variegated leaves as well. TFS & Blessings to you both. MH
ReplyDeleteWow, as your wife, I know how deep your writing can be...This one qualifies with me (as being deep that is...smile...
ReplyDeleteAs Mary, said in her thoughtful post today... It's a lot to think about.
