The Name

In the time of Christ, and before, the name of God was not verbally spoken because it was a holy and vererated name above all other names. Among the Israelites it was considered the holiest of holy names. Instead they would pray to "The Name". Much of that world is foreign to us today. I know, the world has changed but we are much like they were in their time. Only the knowledge and technologies have changed. We still have the same feelings and struggles. We still do all the things they did but in a different environment. What does this have to do with Christianity? Everything! When it comes to faith and belief in God nothing has changed. We seem to think that since we are "modern enlightened" people we can change the bible and word of God to fit what we think it should be. (1 Corinthians 2:14-15; 2 Peter 1:20) Not one word of scripture in its original form is ineffectual in today's world. It was not created by human standards to be manipulated to fit our wants and desires. The saints have embraced the word of God for what it was when it was written. They practiced it and lived it in the way it should be practiced and lived in their time frame. They were examples of Christ among us. They are not our saviors. Just images of Christ and God. I have met some individuals who pray mostly to saints  and it concerns me because scripture is very specific about who is to be prayed to. (John 5:43-45) Intersession is fine but it is like telling Jesus you don't trust He will hear you. I fact, if taken to extreme, it is idolatry.  (John 14:14) Include a prayer for intercession if you must but pray to Jesus for your needs and expect it to be done. Be patient for not all prayer is answered immediately but it is answered or answered exactly as you think it should be. It will be answered. The Name is indeed sacred and to be revered above all other names.

This week I am sharing some of the steps I go through to color the images. It may surprise some that I do not just sit down and color images. Most of the time I sit and decide the general pallet and the specific colors for each of the sectors such as the hair, eyes, lips, clothing, jewelry etc. This can take time. I often go through color testing/matching to see what colors work together if multiple colors are to be used. I try to keep the color usage to a minimum since layering too many colors on the card stock will cause glossing (shine) to occur. Should that happen and it is not severe it may not be easily visible to the point it ruins the work. It still should be avoided if possible. The image I am currently working on is one of those images I had to use 3 colors for the hair. Each color was a layer one on top of the other. Some glossing did occur but not serious enough to be a problem.

This is what my search for colors looks like. In this case it is mostly for the hair but the eyes and lips are here as well.

The next two images are the image with test colors in the areas they may be used. (The photos are dark but it gives you sense of what I am doing plus the true colors on the image aren't given away.)

The colors are tested this way to see if they work with the image. Even when done this way they are not always how they look when applied to the image I am doing. This can either be a bust and start over or keep going until it is finished. (Remember that every sheet of paper affects the color differently than the last even if they are from the same reem.

Not all of these colors will be used on the final image. Several of them were not a good fit with what I wanted. Two of them are. Sorry folks. You are going to have to wait for next weeks post to see the finished image. It is still in the works. This is one of a book of images from ETSY called "Highland Dreams." These are truly challenging images on several levels.I know they look easy but in person they are a challenge.

Until next week, may the good Lord bless and keep you. Remember to "Always Love The Details."

Politics

How many of the politicos in office profess  to believe in God or Christ? It alarms me that morals go out the window on every level. Christ says we are to imitate Him in our life here on earth. That means love one another. (John 13:34; 1 Peter 1:22; Romans 13:8; 1 John 3:14; Romans 13:9) I could quickly bore you with many more passages to prove my point. Being wrapped up in things without love is what Romans 13:9 is about. Politics cannot be a part of the life of a Christian in the same way it is in government. Not every person in politics is shady, without morals or unloving. But the danger is there and the inaction on things needed to bring the moral standard to the forefront is missing because the love of the brothers and sisters that are our friends and neighbors is missing. I dislike political grandstanding. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me sick to my stomach. "In God we trust" is what this country was built on. Return to the "of the people, by the people, for the people" instead of "of the special interest by the special interest people" that currently run the government. Bring sanity back. Jesus was not a politician. He was the image of God and as such He loved unconditionally. His promises were the gold standard to be kept and fulfilled. His purpose was for all people to be saved and have eternal life. What most think as politics was simple gift. Believe and all of this is yours. It is not something that can be earned, it is not something you are owed, it is not something you can finagle or trick into being given or pay for. No politics, nothing of special interests can influence the gift of grace that is Christ, the Holy Spirit and God. The End.

This week I am sharing a just finished image of "Winter Children" from Dreams Coloring Art on ETSY. I tried to find it to provide an easy link but was unable to find it again.

The prn in the lower right is a 0.3 Multiliner black pen. The scarf in this image was the tough part of this image to color. There was a lot of fine detail that had to be done. It required multiple breaks to prevent eye strain.

That is it for this week. May the good Lord bless and keep you. Remember to "Always Love The details."

Above Ourselves

The above quote pretty much speaks for itself. It is discouraging reading the news these days. Very little is concerning the happiness of others. Buy this or that product, it will make you happy. The only people that are happy are those taking your money. Vote for this or that person and we will make this or that happen. Only special interest lobbyists and government itself is the winner. I could go on and on listing those that are not among the givers but are takers. There are some among the named above that are mostly concerned with others. They are far and few inbetween. I will just say that if you make the effort to make others happy you may find that you are happier too. This past weekend was Mother's Day. I would like to say a belated Happy Mother's Day to the Ladies with children.

This week another image from Moontear.

This post was rather short this week. There are a ton of things that need doing but I was not going to miss posting. Until next week, God bless and keep you safe and remember to "Always Love The Details."

Permission

The mind is a sacred zone of the body. It is where we are tempted to do the things that are against what common sense and the word of God says is wrong. Permission is needed for the thought to go further and enter into an action. Rejection needs to happen as soon as the thought enters our mind. I often wonder how it is that temptations seem to linger in my thoughts. It is because they were allowed to enter through hesitation and the smallest of consideration. Is it the human condition to allow this? Is it weakness on my part? There are many things in our past that were allowed to be in our lives that now haunt our present. I find  myself calling on the name of the Lord to take these thoughts away from me time and again. I have to remind myself that I am no longer a part of this world. I have died to this world and have become a part of the world in which Jesus is a part of when I accepted Him as my savior. Physically I am in this world but spiritually I am in the spiritual world. This also means nothing enters this earthly existence that has not been allowed to enter (given permission). This all comes down to faith and divine grace. Calling on the name of Jesus affirms belief in Him and places a lock and "Do Not Enter" sign on the door. Temptation can knock but can no longer enter unless you open the door. Jesus experienced and practiced this in the desert when tempted by Satan.(Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-13)

This week, another of the images from Moontear.

No post this week

I will return with a post next week. Life sometimes takes precedence over daily routines.
