Those who trust in him will understand the truth, those who are faithful will live with him in love; for grace and mercy await his holy ones, and he intervenes on behalf of his chosen.
The New Jerusalem Bible. (1985). (Wis 3:9). New York: Doubleday.
Much is happening all around us. Many are hurting right now. We were not promised no pain, trials, losses or any of life's downers. We were promised to be tested and those who are faithful will have the best of rewards. Eternal life. We are still in the womb in life. The true birth is yet to come. Be strong. It DOES get better. With Prayer and Trust in Him, grace and mercy will be yours. Above all else pray for others for your strength is their strength. In this we are one in HIM.
Here is a card I wanted to post yesterday but that didn't happen, obviously. The card is partly precut, namely the window. I can't provide the supplier since neither Jill nor I know who it is.
She said she didn't know what to do with them so she gave them to me. After giving it some thought, which also gave me a headache, I came up with an idea to use one some of the thousands of photos taken over the years. Now you know why the headache. I chose Longwood Gardens in Longwood, PA. This is one of the Dupont estates. It is huge and always fascinating to visit. We have been visiting for close to 50 years now. If you are ever in the area it is worth the visit. Plan on a full day though. You will not regret it.
First, here is the front of the finished card.
Copics used for the windows are RV10 and RV11. The Wallpaper is Lost & Found floral & stripe. The sentiment was created in Word. Here is a shot of the window open.
Now, it wouldn't be one of my cards unless I did something different and unusual so I did this.
Hey,now! The brick is my design. I will leave the pattern at the end of the post and it is a freebie. The colors used to color the brick (Copics of course) are E08, 09, 37, 89 & 99. Looks cool huh? It was an inspiration to have the inside and outside wall finished as well as show what the view is. Here is just the photo.
The photo is copyrighted so please do not take it. Sorry but the back of the card is not finished. Next time. That is it for the card for now.
Here is the promised brick wall(s).
This is the aged brick
This is the new or smooth brick.
Enjoy. That is it for the week. I hope you enjoyed the post and found it interesting. Cherokee will be joining us next post. That should be interesting. I don't know if I will get a card posted but we will see. Until then, remember to Love The Details.
WOW! Love the card. I used to have some of those card blanks as well and like you I had no idea what to do with them. You rocked it though, inside AND out. That photograph you took is stunning. Those are some fancy gardens, I'll bet very cool to see in person!
ReplyDeleteJim, I started having the exact same problem with Blogger/Bugger this morning! Yikes!!! If you find out what, if anything, we can do shoot me an e-mail! Very frustrating and know your pain right now!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your card! You really turned a plain window into a thing of beauty! Love it!
Thanks again for the freebie too!
Lynn
What a beautiful card!! Very original and creative!! I also enjoyed your spiritual advise! Blessings!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, indeed! I really like the brick wall. Good job with the coloring and you did a good job leaving the grout. I imagine that took quite a bit of time. Of course, opening the windows to those gardens is beautiful. Good idea on using it this way.
ReplyDeleteOh, I come back and find that problem with the reading list. I went to Blogger Help and there were sooooooo many complaints. Hopefully, it will be repaired soon.
We'll be looking forward to Cherokee next post. :-)
What an awesome card Jim. Very colorful and very creative.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card... what an absolutely glorious photo!

Well, you certainly knew what to do with the pre-cut window! Fabulous card & such a gorgeous photo, Jim!
ReplyDeleteGood evening Mr C
ReplyDeleteHaving the exact same blogger issue, hence doing the same as you with the comments at the moment. I'm sure that you will be a worthy thorn on our behalf lol!
Your cards are beautiful. The photos remind me of Keukenhof in Lisse, Holland. I've been a few times and the colour is amazing. Hoping to go back next year but may have to add Longwood to the visit list, though a bit further to travel lol!
Take care.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful , may be a day late but very glad I got to see it.....Lis.....new follower
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're still having fits with Blogger. I had trouble with disappearing comments last week, but it got better. Your post, as always, is so thought provoking and I have to agree with all that you said. Faith must stay strong in these troubled times, and it's way too easy to get discouraged. Bad times have been in this world before, and yet, we still have the Bible (amazing that it survived all this time, and yet people think still it is just 'a book'), we still remember a Man who died over 2000 yrs ago, and as the saying goes "This too shall pass". I always enjoy reading these thoughts you share here. On to the card: Marvelous - again as I've come to expect. The window looks like a MB die, but you said it was a precut card???. Love what you've done with it. Those bricks must have taken quite a while to color as you did, (great patience and great job too!). That was a lovely idea to finish the inside as you did, and complimentary to that absolutely stunning floral photo (which I assume is one you took). This sounds like a place we would love to visit, and I've never heard of it (no surprise, that, lots of places I've never heard of!!!). Hope the week progresses smoothly for the both of you, and tfs too. Don't worry about visiting, just do what you can! This is a hobby.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Wonderful card! I love what you did with the window die cut card! Lovely photo! The flower paper is my all time favorite stack. ( I bought a second one, I loved it so much!) Great work on the brick wall!!! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration both with words and art!
ReplyDeleteLove your card, Jim! Very creative with the photo inside...what a gorgeous garden too! Sorry your having trouble with Blogger, it can be a pain sometimes for sure! Blessings! Kathy
ReplyDeleteWhat a heart warning post! Indeed we are tested and not promised it would always be easy but how lovely the thought that we have our faith!
ReplyDeleteYour card is simply visionary. I love how you took the card template (nice save!) and made it your own! And a vision it is, so bright and creative!
Blessings!
Beautiful card and very creative!! How I would love if the window in my home opens to something as heavenly as this.! Thanks for sharing the brick wall templates. Your colouring with copics is so amazing!
ReplyDeleteJim there is so much inspiration here, from the food for thought to your beautiful window card opening up to nature's beauty. I just love the photo you took of the flowers. And that brick wall on the left sets off the photo on the right perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing the brick wall.

ReplyDeletewohooo! I love that the window opens up to a beautiful scene, a very brilliant and creative card :)
ReplyDeleteSo you and so unique! Well done! Love your card! You are right. There are a lot of people hurting and struggling right now. for many different reasons. Just had someone from my hometown bury his son. Nobody should have to do that. Especially unexpected. We are not promised tomorrow, so we all need to cherish our loved ones today and we need to cherish today!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant design Jim and the brickwork is fabulous. Nicola x
ReplyDeleteHello again, IC...I just saw on another blog that the readers list problem got fixed for this blogger, so hoping that your problem got sorted out too. I was seeing where some other bloggers had the same problem. Hope ya'll had a good day. Hey to both Jill & yourself!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have you be a happy blogger again, Jim! (Speaking of, I love what you've done with the place!) You really used your noggin with the window blank by putting your gorgeous photos peeking through! And having the inside showing the backside of the frontside using your own fabulous brick design makes for a genius card!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden to visit, no wonder you have returned again and again! I love gardening almost as much as I love crafting, so to combine the two is magnificient. Your bricks were a fantastic idea and really give the card character, as if it is really part of the garden. Fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteWow your card is bursting with talent I love the windows! Such great words too really enjoyed reading :)

This is a fantastic card! Love the idea with the window and a photo inside, so clever! Also your colouring of those bricks is amazing... in such adore... Hope you have a great weekend. Me and my husband are going to Prag to celebrate our 10 Anniversary.

Great idea for using the die cuts you had. I so wish I could give stuff I didn't know what to with to my DH but he would just put them back when I wasn't looking (or worse - throw them away). The picture is lovely - sounds and looks like a wonderful place. The rest of your post is very true. I have actually been thinking a lot about this lately. So many people in my life have a lot of health issues or are fighting mental/emotional battles. Sometimes it just seems overwhelming and too hard - but it is always that way because we don't lean on the Lord like we should and we don't try to see how we can use the adversity to learn or to accomplish something that He desires. So many good examples in the Bible of people who take affliction of some kind and run with it! I have little issues compared to most but some days I make them much BIGGER than they are - He has reminded me of this during this week. Hugz and thanks for the post my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Jim, sorry not been around too much, Had poorly hubby so blogging time has been short.

Jim, your post is such a delight on many levels. You begin sharing the 'trials' and realities of life, reminding us to be strong in our faith and trust that things will get better. Wise advice, indeed. Then, you shift to the gorgeous photo of the garden that you placed in your lovely card: a window opening on a brick wall. The connections are so apparent to me: life does have its 'brick walls' but if we are strong, if we have faith and trust, if we strive to see beauty, the windows open. Your message and card are a perfect mesh. Not sure if that was deliberate (or if, as an English teacher, I'm just being...English teacher-y), but the links delight. Speaking of delight: your visits to my blog! Thank you, my friend, for brightening my day! Blessings~c
ReplyDeletejust passing by to say hello. lovely project
ReplyDeletebibiana

ReplyDeleteI had the same issue with Blogger- it resolved fairly quickly. I have been so busy this summer- need a day to regroup! Missing seeing all of the blog inspiration though, so had to MAKE time! DD is coming hoe from China in 12 days, just for 5 1/2 weeks though, but lots to do before she gets here!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card and photo inside. Chris :-D
