Sometimes when you read a quote from someone you sit and chuckle and at the same time realize there is a truth in the statement. The above quote is one of these times. What do you see when you look into a mirror? Dumb question? I don't think so. I see what is just another face staring back at me. An old tired face. What do you see? A doctor, a lawyer, an Indian chief? I know of those who would see what they perceive themselves to be not just a reflection in a mirror. The real world says the person staring back at you is nothing more than you staring into the mirror. What is inside of that person cannot be reflected in a mirror. the mirror does not reflect who that person you are looking at is. It is not the whole package. It is also a mirage. The image is only the wrapper of the person you are. The true reflection of you is seen in the life you live and how you are seen by others. That is often not even a true image of who you are but a reflection of who the people that observe you are. Confusing? People often see others as what they wish to be or think you should be. They often wish they were like you or want you to be like them. The only person you have to be is what Christ sees you as, a child of God. Nothing else matters. Christ went about selecting people to follow Him, people to save. He didn't pick only the educated. He didn't pick the self righteous. He didn't choose the ones who followed the letter of the law (The book of the law). That law could never save anyone. It was amended with men's rules which can never save. Christ saw through the eyes of love and compassion. He sees the true you. That person in the mirror is but a reflection, incomplete and flawed. When you can look in the mirror and see what Christ sees you will no longer see that person the same. You will be changed and glowing from the love He has poured into you. What do you see when you look into the mirror?

This week we continue with the Moontear images. This image turned out nice. It is almost photograph quality. What is really nice about many of these images is the eyes. They seem to follow you. The DW says they look like they are actually seeing you. Yep, they are green.

The copics used are:

That will do it for this week. May the good Lord bless you and keep you safe. Remember to "Always Love The Details."

  4. I hear you about what do I see in the mirror, and how often folks reflect what others want them to be, and don't see the beauty that God planted in them.. As a child of God, I am not really into what I look like as long as I am clean and tidy!! That may also have something to do with age also ;)
Loving your colouring - that is amazing and has really made that beautiful image come to life

  6. Interesting post Jim. It is true, what we see in a mirror isn't the whole picture of ourselves. It is just that....a picture or reflection. It doesn't show who we are, how we act, etc...I can often remember as a younger person, wanting to be like someone else. I guess all kids or young teens do at some point in time. I am happy to be just me, a child of God who is loved by a compassionate God. And I am thankful.

Gorgeous image and of course you have colored this little one up so beautifully! I agree, the eyes seem to follow you. But all the images you color, the eyes always stand out and seem to be looking deep into your soul. Very intense for sure! Hugs and blessings, Brenda

  7. Good post, Jim! It’s very similar to one I wrote years ago, but looking back into shards of broken glass- to reflect our broken but lived lives. As always, your artwork is impeccable! Truly a talent!!
