The root

This is a quote that speaks to the life of many in this world. The problem of evil is not removed by destroying statues of them or burning the posters depicting them. That only takes the visual reminder out of site. Real solutions need to be found. If there was overriding good in the visual reminders then destroying them is as bad as what you are trying to destroy. If we destroyed everything that reminds us of evil in the world we would not have a world to live in. There are things that need to be removed from this world that are dangerous and evil for sure but only if that something is a source of said evil. There is a "remove it" culture in this world today. We need to look beyond the fact there are things in a person's life that were offensive when the overall good far outweighs what in this day and age is offensive. If we only looked at the things in someone's life that were offensive to others we would all have to live in isolation. It seems to me that is looking only at the "me" and not the "we" in life. Being Christian does not mean ignoring the wrong in life nor does it mean get rid of everything we do not agree with. Getting rid of evil is not the same as correcting mistakes. It is far more productive to be sure the mistakes are understood and clear than to condemn and remove everything from the history books, removing statues or other things. We are commanded to love and pray for our enemies. There are times when we need to be more active in scrubbing up the world but we also need to be very careful not to go off the deep end and wipe the history that created where we live and gave us the freedoms we now enjoy. We also need to be reminded of the evils that accompanied the process so that we are reminded what not to do if confronted with them again. To forget them would only lead to them being repeated.

One more Moontear image this week. There is a large amount of detail that was done in this image.

That is it for this week. May the good Lord Bless and keep you safe. Remember to "Always Love The Details."

  1. What great words Jim - this is happening here also, and yes, to destroy the images/statues basically removes the reminder that evil is around even today, not just in the past. We would do well to remember, and adjust our behaviour accordingly.
Beautiful colouring of the sweet image.

  3. The coloring on her dress and the flowers is so pretty. Her hair....wow! Black hair has to be hard to color but you managed it just perfect. Loving those wonderful eyes again too! Beautiful!

  4. I'm so glad you touched upon this Jim. Your post is very thought provoking and I have said for a long time now, we can't wipe out all the bad because much of the past bad needs to keep us grounded and to prevent a repeat of history. This can be applied to our everyday lives as well. Yes, a great post for sure and lots of food for thought!

Love your coloring on this sweet image, her face is just beautiful as are her eyes. Love her hair too. Lots of details for sure like her dress/top and her hair piece, but boy you did a great job Jim as usual! Hugs and blessings, Brenda

  5. There is a wonderful lesson in each of your posts and of course, seeing your artwork is a bonus. She's beautiful with her alabaster skin and clear blue eyes. The detail in the dress is unbelievable. Beautifully done, JIm!
