Remembrance

How would you want to be remembered?

This was a subject my dear wife and I had recently. Most people hesitate to answer this question for various reasons. Everyone has secret wishes to be remembered in one way or another. What is your deepest wish for remembrance? Be honest with yourself. My dear wife didn't give her answer to this question, although she obviously did give it some thought. I have heard some desires expressed about what others wanted to be remembered for and they are pretty amazing at times. What are some of your deepest wishes for remembrance? Foremost for me is the desire to spread the Christian word for the glory of our Lord. Next would be that I was a good devoted Christian husband and father. Beyond that would be that what I do further glorifies our lord, my artwork for example. (Another example is included below) There are many of you that would share what some of my hopes and dreams are. It is not for me to say if any of this is true or not but by example it is for others to judge. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this subject.

This image took 4 or 5 days to complete. The background was difficult for several reasons. The details were obscured and difficult to make out. These images were meant to be printed much larger.(60.5"HX42.5"W) To help with seeing what was out there, a modest 19.5" X 14.25" had to be created. That did not give me full detail but it helped.

This image is 10"X 7" so the detail is severely reduced in size. I will post images from time to time.

May the good Lord bless and keep you safe.

Remember to "Always Love The Details."

  1. Man, this is such a deep, soul-searching question to bring up in the quiet hours with your spouse. Most people dodge it entirely because it forces you to look right in the mirror, so I really respect your honesty and vulnerability in putting those thoughts out there. Putting your faith, your family, and honoring God through your art at the very top of the list says everything about who you are. And looking at the sheer patience it takes to wrestle with a background like that, spending days on end and shrinking things down just to decode every little hidden corner, it's honestly a mirror of how you approach life. You really do live by your own sign-off: you always love the details, whether it's in a complex piece of art or in the quiet, steady commitments of your faith and being a dad and husband. Thanks for opening up a real conversation today and sharing a glimpse of your craft. Give my best to your wife.

  2. Those are honorable things to be honored in life, Jim. I know I'd hope that the people I love would remember me for my Christian values, being a loving mom and grandmother, and a devoted wife. Love the drawing! Blessings!

  3. I would like to be remembered for my love - well, God's love through me, and being an encouraging person to those I have contact with - again, a reflection of God through me..
I remember this image when you first coloured and shared it Jim - it is still just as stunning!
    Blessings

    1. This image is new this month. Never before done. There was a feminine image done some time ago similar to this one with the same problems to color.

  4. My instantaneous answer to your question would be similar to yours and that I'm a giver, without expecting anything in return. A deeper, or fuller answer, needs more thought.

As always, your coloring is stunning... and it's wonderful to revisit a piece I loved when I first saw it.
    Love, hugs and prayers xoxo

Uma pergunta difícil. Gostaria de ser lembrada como uma serva de Deus e pelo amor da minha família e dos meus amigos. Lindo desenho, você é muito talentoso. Um forte abraço.
