Patience may make the heart grow fonder but it also increases the surprise factor.
Brainy Quotes
Alas, in today's world and mind set this is a tough pill to swallow. In fact much of what has been placed at the disposal of the average person today makes patience almost unknown. Smart phones, computers with the Internet, overnight delivery and even charge cards are contributors. Instant gratification. I have even talked to some college grads that feel they can come out of college and get top wages right away. Few want to gain what they want with patience and labor. Experience is not free nor magical. It requires patience and time. James 1:2-4 "My
brothers, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon
you, for you well know that the testing of your faith produces
perseverance, and perseverance must complete its work so that you will
become fully developed, complete, not deficient in any way.
The New Jerusalem Bible. (1985). (Jas 1:2–4). New York: Doubleday.
This is true for all things worth having in life.
We are going to start off by saying, "I didn't write the colors down." Sorry ladies! Cherokee was a distraction when I did these so I forgot to write them down. "Cherokee not distraction. Irish fall asleep at desk. Snore loud and wake up Cherokee." Really? Where did you come from? "You not know? Cherokee figmental from imagnication." You mean figment of my imagination. "Yes. What you said." I didn't know you could have bad daydreams. Bye Cherokee. "Humpf."
The first image is from Stampland. I was out to this site and it is currently under construction but I am providing the link to it any way.
The stamped image was a difficult one to color. It was very dark and the image itself was hard to discern from the background. Once the edges were found care had to be taken not to color things that were not part of the figure. As you can see the result isn't half bad. It sure makes a nice card.
My DW had a bit of a hard time trying to use this image. I think she did an admirable creation using the image.
Next are two House-Mouse Images. Hummers are one of my all time favorite birds. This one was fun to do.
The card is done well as usual.
The final house mouse is one I had a little more difficulty with due to the number of colors and having to use pen and ink to fill in some parts that didn't stamp. It still looks pretty good I think.
Making me hungry. Used to love picnics. Then discovered picnic ants. Still like picnics but on picnic tables. LOL.
The card turned out nice too.
The camera at the time did not have the best of resolution so it turned out a bit out of focus but the card was great.
Well, it is time to wrap up for now. Tomorrow our company arrives. I need to help Jill finish getting ready. It will be at least Tuesday or Wednesday before I post again. We have no idea what her aunt's schedule is so I will comment and respond as I can. Remember to LOVE THE DETAILS.

Love the comments on patience - as I so often remind the younger generation when they complain about a text taking too long, once we willing waited six months for a letter from the other side of the world!! (well, three months)...
ReplyDeleteLove the colouring - especially the lady - that is a stunner! And as ever your dear wife mounted them beautifully.
Blessings
Maxine
Oh, I do love the first one of the lady...fabulous. The others are wonderful, too, and Jill did a fab job, as usual. Patience.....I think it really comes easier with age. I am not nearly as impatient about most things as I used to be. It feels good, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit. Thanks for your comment about my DD position. I appreciate it so much.
Three beautiful cards and three beautifully colored images. Love that first one and the coloring is sensational!! Of course the little "meeces" are precious......even though they're mice, you just gotta love 'em!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
Lynn
The lady is so wonderfully done and deserves a frame. She does make a pretty card! Love all the details on the House Mouse stamps! Great job on the cards too!
ReplyDeleteAll three of these cards are beautiful! You and your wife did a fine job! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW she may have been difficult to color, but you did a fabulous job!! All three cards are terrific!
ReplyDeleteI like the card with the golden profile of the vintage woman - very pretty! Of course those mischievous mice are up to their antics again too! NJ on all.
ReplyDeleteOoh three fantastic cards you and your wife are so talented, it must be wonderful to both share this same wonderful hobby.
ReplyDeleteI agree patience comes easier with age, I'm a lot more patient than I used to be and it feels good to be like that.
Take care, both of you, lots of love Teresa x
Ok - I totally needed the inspiration this verse provides this week (this decade? this life? - urgh). Thanks!!!! Love each of your images - wonderful job with coloring. I love the vintage one the best which is saying a lot because who could possibly compete with a HM image? Lovely work and lovely post as always! You inspire me - really! Hugz to you and Jill!
ReplyDeleteGreat post this morning. And Oh so true.. Many what to start at the top instead of the bottom.

Hey IC, 3 wonderful images colored beautifully, and then your resident card maker turned them into great cards. She's a wonder with the layout designs and choosing such pretty papers to compliment your images. Totally agree with you on the Stampland images. I have some - NBUS - because of that frustration with trying to color. When I saw these at a show, the vendor used sponges, to color 'wide portions' with a sponge. Hers looked lovely (hence my purchase). Don't seem to work that well when I try that! Yours is gorgeous. Delightful images on the HM, and didn't see any 'touch-ups' with fill in non-stamping. So you did it very professionally. Aren't those pens terrific for when this happens? You folks make a super team with your combined skills! Keep it up. (oh yes, enjoyed the pre-picture thoughts as well. Especially appreciated the comment about college grads stepping right into high roller status. See a lot of that. It's called paying your dues, and I don't think this generation understands that concept. On anything. Unfortunately). TFS & Happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good chuckle--you used to like picnics and then you discovered picnic ants. The idea of "instant gratification" makes me want to scream. I work at a junior college and if people encounter trouble them want to talk to the TOP GUY RIGHT NOW. They don't want to talk to any of the underlings, who are there to help nor can they understand that top guy and maybe even the underlings aren't available RIGHT NOW. If I had to say a problem I have working customer service it would be that. Anyway, to your colored images... love that first one. Those ultra detailed stamps are so wonderful but yeah, such a challenge to color. And house mouse! Always a good choice!!
ReplyDeleteI really love your Stampland card. I met them at a show here in SC. She is great, bought her CD's (2) , stamps, brushes, etc. I'll be glad when there site is up. You do beautiful work on every card that you do. Thank you so much for all the very nice compliments you give me on my blog. Im going to sign up and join your site as soon as I finish this post.
ReplyDeleteFirst, you need to know your wonderful comment has caused a mega-watt smile to light up my face, so thank you immensely for that! Second, your observations/reflection about patience resonate with me, as I'm a many years high-school teacher-turned admin assistant in a school (long story that journey...), and know well the instant gratification-entitlement attitudes that some of the younger generation have acquired. Patience, experience, 'earning' your position...oh, they have such life-lessons to learn! Come to think of it, my patience scale needs some tending to as well. Maybe some colouring therapy will help, and I base that on the gorgeous colouring you've shared with us, which I know is an exercise in 'patience' as well as creativity! The Stampland image is remarkable - I initially thought it was a photograph! And the HM scenes - oh my, but they are superb (the blueberry and raspberry tarts sparked memories of those my Grandma used to make on the family farm. She was the most amazing baker of decadent desserts ever! Thank you for that wee trip down memory lane.) You and your wife: co-creators of magic! Happy sighhhh...another delightful visit here....

Love, love, love your details!! and when I start to design a card I myself sometimes am not myself... So yeah, you never know what you will get!! My husband calls me "Wild Card".
ReplyDeleteThe lovely lady in profile is oozing sensuality, and you worked wonders bringing out the light! The house mouse simply wonderful, and boy do you have patience, a virtue I gave up in frustration trying to find (insert hillbilly hyuck hyuck laugh).
Thanks for popping by, your always welcome!!
Beautiful coloring on all three cards!! The lady looks fabulous!! I enjoyed your words of wisdom on patience. I think it's hard to be patient when things can happen & are suppose to happen so quickly today.
