February 19, 2014 Vision

February 19, 2014   Vision

This is not what it seems. Vision is not limited to what you can see with your eyes or to what the future might bring but what the heart sees and the eyes do not.  What is he talking about you ask? I shared about whispers and listening for the voice of God in the softest of sounds. If you heard and understood that you also will understand that the heart and soul will also show you things the eye can’t begin to see. Acts II 9 v 10-12 ‘ There was a disciple in Damascus called Ananias, and he had a vision in which the Lord said to him, ‘Ananias!’ When he replied, ‘Here I am, Lord' the Lord said, ‘Get up and go to Straight Street and ask at the house of Judas for someone called Saul, who comes from Tarsus. At this moment he is praying, and has seen a man called Ananias coming in and laying hands on him to give him back his sight.’ Without this “vision” Paul might never have become St. Paul. The vision of Ananias, both hearing that whispered voice and being open to the vision was a blessing to all of us.

Today will be somewhat of a look back to some older coloring attempts. Not all of the Copics for the coloring were recorded but those that were will be included. I will try to start with the oldest and come forward.

I have no colors available for this image. I only took a photograph of it when it was completed. It was so dark I had to clean it up in Photo Impact Pro to Make it presentable. This is an image from SweetnSassy. The card is really special.

My DW did a beautiful job with this card. It is special.

The next image is actually my first attempt at using the Copic spray gun. There is  a knack to using these things. It drove me nuts until I figured it out. It is not sensitive enough to do any fine line work but for effect it is adequate. This Image is from Our Daily Bread.

This is the first trial image and I was not happy with it so I tried another image with a more dramatic sky and this one I liked.

I know, I know, why didn’t you color all of it. I did but didn’t scan the finished product. Sheesh! Picky! It did get finished identical to the first one. The butterflies are just slightly softer. Any hoo, here is the card.

Love the sentiment Jill picked for this card. It fits perfectly.

My final image for today is also one of my favorites. It was a lot of coloring and paying attention to detail. Sound familiar?

This image is from Impression Obsession not Our Daily Bread. Sorry for the mistake.

Would this scene make you feel just a little bit better? It would make me feel better for sure. That does it for this time around. This would have been posted earlier but Bugger/Blogger was not cooperating today. What a surprise. Guess I shouldn’t complain since it is free. Hope you enjoyed yourself and hopefully found at least some inspiration. I just LOVE THE DETAILS.

P.S. - I have been told that my posts are not updating on other peoples sites. Can anyone offer a suggestion that may help if it is due to something on my end?

  1. Hi DH of Jill. I love your coloring ! So…. Jill makes the cards and you color? Your last image is my favorite as well. I clicked on the link Jill recommended the one with the old images… love them! Love the card you colored that Jill posted with the hens… gorgeous!

  3. These are beautiful! I love the ODB image but the last path, I don't think I've ever seen. I'll have to ask about that one. Love your "name", lol. My dad's family is Cherokee & my mom's is Irish. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  4. You and Jill work so beautifully together! The last one needs to be framed! I'll bet you'd love to see a path not covered with snow!

  5. A lovely way to end my day with this thoughtful post. Thank you for that! And loved your cards. Jill does a fantastic creation using your colored images. What a super team you make. Loved your airbrushing too. I'm not expert with it, find that I have to do it 'steadily' - not just once in a while. It takes me a bit to get the 'control' down again. Yours look fantastic and you have used some of my favorite IO images. (I'm thinking the house & path would be Gary Robertson?) These are so complex to color and it takes a LOT of attention to detail to do them well. You have! TFS & tell Jill I'll get back. Just trying to catch up again. But I will make it! TFS & hugs to you both.

  7. Your coloring has come a long way since your humble beginnings! I am so taken with that last image and how you colored the brick wall and cobblestones! What a wonderful, relaxing and pretty scene! Well done! Enjoy that sunshine out there today! I'm heading out to see if I can't remove the ice from the sidewalk today! Monsoon next, then the Polar Vortex pays a visit again next week. Are you ready? :)

  8. On your and your wife's first card it is lovely and indeed special. Love the colors and the design she used to show off your painting. Actually I love both of our second two images. And lastly, your painted garden path is very uplifting and allows for looking forward!

  9. Jim your post is filled with beauty! I love the opening and I love the text behind the calla lily image! It is a very heartfelt card and I am sure was used to comfort someone that you and Jill both love very much! He surely does gives us strength and grace for the journey as our burdens grow!! I have to say again what a wonderful team you and Jill are when it comes to card making and life too! God meant your souls to be joined together on this difficult journey that we call life! My hardest thing every day is not having Stuart here with me. I read some wonderful articles from a hospice email this morning that I think you and Jill might enjoy. I am going to try to forward them to you! I also posted them to my Facebook page. I still have not brought up the photos you sent yet! I am still super busy with sister's wedding prep and haven't even started my card that is due Saturday for TSTR! Crazy week!! Hopefully things will slow down when the shower is over on Saturday! :)

  11. Some gorgeous coloring here. You chose the best images to color - that last one is really special. Wonderful detail on the walkway and bricks - things I would hurry through. I think looking at this would make me feel better - definitely makes me feel peaceful. It would be nice to walk through this little path.

About your first comments, I feel that most people just don't take the time to listen to what their heart, soul, or God are saying or their minds are not open. Closed hearts and closed minds cause all the problems - with ourselves and the world. I struggle myself, but when I talk to most people about something deeper than the weather or the latest gadget available, the subject falls on deaf ears. Imagine the frustration God feels!

Thanks for your always wonderful comments and visits. Hugz!

  12. Here you are!!!!! I'd been checking but you just never showed up - but glad you have now with this wonderful post! Love all of these. Great work with the Copic air brush - I'd probably end up painting all the walls in the house instead of my card. Love those beautiful flowers on the first one - and it made into a gorgeous card. The last one........yep - so many details! Stunning! That brick work looks read - as do the trees and everything else. Fabulous!!!
No idea about your blog not showing up - maybe something to do with Feeder or whatever but no idea how to correct it. Who knows, maybe it'll straighten itself out soon. I didn't see any other way to follow your blog - like "follow by e-mail", Bloglovin, etc......Maybe try adding one of those.

  18. The "special" card with the SNS image is beautiful. The two of you did a great job. I thought for a second the card with Ecc. 3:11 was Ecc. 3:1 as that is my daughter-in-law's favorite verse. She used it on her wedding ceremony programs. I have thought of getting an airbrush but I'm sure it take a lot of practice to get the pressure just right. Do I have time? Hmmmmm...don't know.
