January 16, 2014 All Things Change

Yesterday was today, Today was the future

Quote for today:   "Nine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time."
Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862); US writer, poet and essayist.

Monday Jill and I went to our favorite little craft store in the Lancaster, PA area. It is about an hour ride from where we live so we usually check out the menu of our favorite little restaurant before we go. They had a notice that the last day of operation was January 3rd. We were both shocked. They made things all natural, fresh daily and to order if you wished. Our diets were no problem for them. The food was delicious and the service was the best around. It wasn't fast but it was the best quality.  If we expect the life we live to be comfortable and smooth at all times we are living in a dreamland and not reality. Live life in the moment. Share that moment with others. Rejoice that it was even possible.

Enough of the philosophic and down to brass buttons. Forget the tacks, they are sharp. As promised we are going to visit one of my favorite image sites Funky Kits and Sugar Nellie Digital Stamps. I am partial to the Simply Adorable digi's. The Sugar Nellie "Simply Adorable" image group are in the top 5 for me. You will see what I mean below. Lets get on that old mule and see if we can convince it to go somewhere.

Copic Colors: This is probably the only one I didn't write down the colors. Go figure!

Meet Joy! Cute isn't she? These are fun, fun, fun! They really need to be done again. Some of the techniques I am using now would make them come off the page and say hello. There are also a few more colors in the stable than when these were done. Now for the card.

Jill gets all bothered when she uses these images. She is so afraid she will mess it up. All I have to say is, "SO". We have more paper and markers. They can be done again. Slam bam, thank you ma'am. Nice job. Next Image please.

Copic Colors:   E33, E30, Y02, RV12, E00, R00, G14, G00, G000, YG13

Meet Nancy, She is ready for bedtime with her teddy and jammies. She is the big sister. You will meet her brother next. First we need to check out the card.

Hey Jill! I know you are reading this. Nice job sweetheart. Nice thing about this is there isn't any need to go to her blog, Ribbon Challenged, since I get to see them made up front. (How do you like the way I snuck a plug in for her blog.) Now for Nancy's brother.

Copic Colors:  YR30, BG53, E00, E000, E0000, RV0000, E21, B97, B95, E44, C00, BG10

Say hello to Nathan. Looks shy doesn't he? Makes you want to give him a big ol' smooch and just as big a hug. That would get a frown and an "eeewwww, yuck." Used to hate the cheek pinching, lipstick smearing kisses. Yuck!!! I'm with you Nathan!

Nice job with the card. Very simple. Not sure from that expression if Nathan is a little angel or if his parents need to batten down the hatches. Not my problem. The next little cutie will make you wonder too.

Copic Colors:  E0000, E000, E00, RV000, RV0000, Y000, E33, R02, C0, B000, BG10, C3

Meet Hope. She looks like she is resigned for some reason. Like "let's get this over with I need to go play." Maybe it's a "REALLY? That was bumb!" No matter what the expression means I would like to get an eeeewwww, yuck. My grand daughter and I played a game to see who could squeeze the bejeebers out of one another the best. Of course she always won. Wouldn't dare do that now. It would be a trip to the emergency room.

Bet Hope is a firecracker. Still a little cutie. Dressed to kill with those big ol' earrings. Love
it. Well done card. Meets with my approval. I don't know what to say about the next image other than it was colored with love. The scan DOES NOT have the same effect as the "in person" image. There is always a reaction to this one.

Copic Colors:  E0000, E000, E00, RV0000, R02, N0, T2, B000, T4, E81, YR000, E30, E34, E09, C2

This is Rebecca. This is one of three that are hands down my favorite Sugar Nellies. This one would more than likely edge out the other two, but barely. Raven black hair is to die for. This was one of the few times it worked perfectly. Jill loves this one as well. The card does this image justice.

Not much to say except WOW! Not much else to say. Next image please. I have no card for the image but thought it might be a nice way to end your visit. The little beauty is one of the other two images that blew me away. See if you agree.

Copic Colors:  Y000, Y13, YG17, E31, E57, C0, RV63, B14, B0000, E000, E00, RV0000, E31, R02, E33

This is Victoria. Talk about cute. She just about cornered the market. Have a feeling when she grows up daddy will have to hire a body guard. Speechless. Superlatives are in short supply with some of the images that are available. About the time I think I can't be amazed I am blown away. That is what makes it fun.

This is not the end of these images. There are more but they will be for another day. I just LOVE THE DETAILS.

  5. Beautiful work you two do together. I'm just trying to think how I could get my hubby into this. :-)
I love Victoria...I think it is the eyes. They're all fabulous. Yep, there are so many colors now, it's hard to keep us with them.
Good advice to "live life in the moment". Of course, that is hard to do, at times. Sorry about your restaurant closing. That's a shame.

  6. Oh wow, these are all just gorgeous! I love Sugar Nellie too, and "Nathan" is my favourite image of theirs. He just looks exactly like my son (right down to the bear he's clutching...).
